As my mother always said (referring to the most prominent feature of her face that's a lot like his), it's the "patrician" look.

Thant's funny Stella! I'm very lucky my grandfather, mother and brother got the Roman nose in our family! :~D

Say it fast - romannose romannose romannose - just a little silliness at the end of the week and a looooonnng Friday. As you can see from my portrait (done in pastels by my son, Alex, when he was six years old), I didn't inherit that romannose either.

What to do, what to do. Go out in the 90 degree heat and finish mowing the yard that I started after work last night? Stay inside and read? Go grocery shopping? Choices, choices. My life is sooo exciting.

Here's my southern haiku based on "The Mercy of Thin Air" by Domingue Ronlyn:
New Orleans ghost girl
Livin' twixt heaven and earth
Released from limbo.

Thanks Susie, I love it! Aren't these a neat way to annotate books. Jenclair does a six word synopsis, and this is very similar. Have a happy weekend!

Stella - Ya have to roll the R, too! Hubby said something about going to Paula Dean's buffet in Tunica - maybe I can start a bar fight and come home with a brokennose, brokennose, brokennose possibly become comatose, comatose, comatose... :^D

Lots of goodies!!

maggie moran said...

Isn't this wild, April! We haven't been reading for a month yet! :)

I'm sitting here laughing out loud over brokennose comotose! Gotta little Gretchen Wilson thing going on down there?!!

I just noticed your romannose sign-off and I'm laughing again. I think I'm punchy--must be time to go to bed.

Good Morning, Stella Marie. I hope you didn't overdose, overdose overdose on the silliness last night. ;^D

I am going to mess up your second review Mr. Linky by posting my third book review. Sorry, I didn't know where else to put it. LOL.

All the best,
Jill =)

maggie moran said...

No problem Jill! I may move it when I get the third review post up. If that is okay with you?

Medbie said...

Just posted my review of A Confederacy of Dunces. Can not recommend this one enough!!

maggie moran said...

Thanks Medbie! It is awesome!

My second book is done. I thing I will end up reading more than 3.
I tried to follow the direction but I still messed up the linking to my review.

Great Barbara! Just make it a full out southern summer! No problem on mr. Linky. I'll change it later if need be. :)

Maggie, I finally posted about Mudbound. . .I'm probably the only person on your blog that didn't like it. . .Have a sunny day! Sarah

maggie moran said...

I'm sorry you didn't like it Sarah. Get back to reading Fannie Flagg! :)

Nan said...

Just a note to say I've finished my second choice, One Writer's Beginnings. I loved it, and recommend it, Maggie, if you haven't read it.

maggie moran said...

Oh, thanks for the recommendation Nan. I have read it and isn't she a delight. Can you imagine skating through your Capitol. :)

I threw in an extra book. I was reading it anyway, and it fit the challenge.

I just finished reading The River Wife. Its not your typical Deep South story but rather a multi-generational Southern Gothic story. Hope Mr. Linky worked this tiime.

maggie moran said...

Thanks Violette! The book sounds good! :)

Hi, Maggie! Thanks for stopping by my blog. Ecology of a Cracker Childhood is set in Baxley, Georgia. It's a quaint town in Southeast Georgia - and this memoir was quaint too!

All the best,
Jill =)

maggie moran said...

Thanks Jill! I should have figured Georgia as in Georgian Cracker! ;D

Wow! Jill! I'll get a final review linky up and move you! You know, I do the challenge in the summer when I'm off of work. When I go back I'm pretty driven and let the blogging lag. I'll try to do better b/c I feel like I have made friends like you through this experience. I promise to do better! :D

Double Wow, Heidi! Hey keep it up! ;D

CJ said...

Well, crud. I finished this one quite awhile ago and had the review posted some time ago. I just forgot to come here and post my link.

When's the third review link going up?

maggie moran said...

I'm on it CJ! How 'bout tomorrow? It's only a day away! :)

Stella said...

On to the next book.

Yay, Stella! :)

Figured I'd best get one more in here. I've had an honorable mention with the Duane Allman biography. LAST LESSONS OF SUMMER - Margaret Maron wasn't on my original list, but lordy, I haven't been book shopping at the B&N in forever. Can't find any off my list at the used bookstore. So hope this will work. If not, I'll understand. I do hope to get to the B&N ASAP for the humor ones.

maggie moran said...

Vickie, I'm sure your book is fine! I'm still feverish and only want to spend a few minutes on the internet, but I promise to get back and read your good stuff soon!

Tammy said...

Hmm, my link doesn't seem to be posting. Or it may show up twice :)

April said...

Just finished up and posted my review for my second book - and what a delight it was!

Tammy said...

Maggie, can you post the link to my second book? For some reason, Mr. Linky is ignoring me :(

http://otterevilreads.livejournal.com/16218.html

the title is Perdition House. Thanks!

Tammy said...

{sigh} I tried to post my link again - then I looked on another browser and saw that you posted it - if it shows up again, please delete it. Sorry!
