How Cool is This?!?

The author of Mudbound, Hillary Jordan, responded to my comment in LibraryThing! How nice is that?!? This is her comment, and the Faulkner reference is a nice local touch.

Many thanks for the kind words and for spreading the gospel of Mudbound! I had a wonderful time traveling around Mississippi on my book tour. My grandfather was from Oxford and knew Faulkner (in fact, the latter was in love with my great aunt at one time - he proposed and she turned him down) and it was fun to imagine them walking the same streets as I was.

Best, Hillary

I love LibraryThing. I'm so excited that Tim from LibraryThing is speaking at the Association of Christian Librarians conference in Quincy, Massachusetts (suburb of Boston) this summer! The interaction with authors makes it truly special.

That is so amazing! It just brightens one's day to hear from an author, I think! Great job!!

It's fun to get comments from the authors!

That is extremely cool! Angela Young left me a note on my LibraryThing account and on my blog when I reviewed her book, Speaking of Love. I love the way readers can interact with authors via LT and book blogs.

Wow, Lori! It would be really nice to hear him, and thank him or the early bird review program. Please, write about your conferenc. :)

I think that too, April. It sure does shock a person who doesn't expect it. ;)

That's right Tiffany, I'm bad!

I was walking on air, WW100. Her book so impressed me. :)

I totally forgot about having a LibraryThing account, Lisa, once I lost my widget; fortunely, my interest has been piqued. ;)

That's nice--interesting ties to Faulkner--I've had two authors contact me based on reviews and comments on their books (luckily, I said nice things about both). Keep up the good work.

Thanks Sage! I always try to be a lady when I write my articles since a book will appeal to some and not others. Keeping it upbeat can be tough if I develop a bad taste from an authors voice. Most times I won't write about the book, but I make exceptions if the content is usable and it may just be a matter of my taste. Teach Like Your Hair is on Fire is an example, and I've received some flack in the comments for my opinion.

You are so right though. I have to reread what I wrote to make sure I didn't offend. I mean authors spend loads of time writing and researching a book and for me to pooh-pooh there efforts seems mean.
