Vidalia from Vidalia's Books discovered a new author which she claims, "follows in the tradition of southern authors like Welty and O'Connor. Her stories are haunting. She writes with a wry, bemused voice and a strong talent for description. Please note: this is NOT "chick lit." Highly recommended." Read more...
This is exciting news for us Welty and O'Connor lovers! I rushed to work and bought-up all the books I could find by Alabama native Jennifer S. Davis. Thanks, Vidalia!

I have seen this book in the store a couple times and have been SO tempted to buy it! I love the cover - I remember seeing those knit doll doilies in my grandmother's house. I'll be waiting to hear what you think about the book!
Sounds really interesting! My youngest sister is going to be a sophomore in high school and has to read a few of Welty's short stories before school starts (today). We had fun discussing the stories and elements of Welty's style. "Why I live at the P.O." is one of my favorite short stories ever.
Oh, Lesley, those tissue covers and tp caddies were all the rage in both my grandparents's houses. They even had holiday colored ones! :D
That is so kewl, Trish! I tell everyone this - they filmed Why I Live at the PO right across the street from our house! They brought in fake white picket fences w/ roses for the outdoor scenes. :)
