Hilton Head Setting!

I know, I suggested her last time, but surely there is an Anne Rivers Siddons book set there. I know she has quite a few on the South Carolina coast.

I loved Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.

These are some of my favorites. They're not set on Hilton Head, but maybe they're close enough?

Ella Minnow Pea by Mark Dunn
Mama Day by Gloria Naylor
The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd

Thanks gals! She will be reading Kidd (set on Egret Island) as her challenge.

True, Siddons has to have something in or around Savannah. I'll see if I can come up with a quote and list of books from her.

Mark Dunn is a Memphian and I could kick myself for not reading his books. He's gone off to the big city to try and make his name as a playwright.

My list of challenege books keeps growing. ;)

We've been going to Hilton Head every summer for the past 21 years (can't believe it's been that long!). I'll have to check out some of these books.

Hey Lynne, I'm a St. Simmons girl myself. Nothing like that papermill smell early in the morning. ;D

When she is in Savannah make sure she checks out The Pirate House! http://www.thepirateshouse.com/

I LOVED Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. When I was there many years ago we took the tour of the places in the book. It was A LOT of fun.

Also Flannery O'Conner was born in Savannah. She is always a great choice.

Gone with the Wind is a good choice for Savannah in general.

Another one that is coming to mind, I think because there is a reference to Gone with the Wind in it is The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood. Though that is based in Louisiana.
