I got this meme from Amy at The Sleepy Reader. Wow, I realize now I haven't read the girly classic stuff. I'm such a bad librarian, I haven't read Wurthering Heights or Emma. :-) Also, where are the Southern (3) authors?

Maggie,
I had fun reading your answers. It seems that we have the same idea of what we don't want to read and we also don't know the same titles. :)
Oh and about the girly classics...I only read Rebecca, Jane Eyre and P&P last month so we have that in common too.
1984 and Catchter in the Rye are great books. I loved them both. Thanks for the list!
Oh yeah, you might like the Reading & Books Forums.
I had fun reading your answers, too. I particularly like the addition of red for books you wouldn't touch with a 10-foot pole. Good one!
Hmm, girly classics - guess I never thought of them in those terms. Pride and Prejudice is an all-time favorite of mine. I have a lot of all-time favorites, though. :)
I confess that I have not read most of the tomes in this list.
Hey guys, this could be a book challenge. Read 5 on the list and win a prize! The book list meme challenge... ;D
Well, most of mine were green..I guess I'm of-an-age, and did most of the classics in high school and college My 10-foot poles were the Harry Potters (the first 2 were enough!) ones and chick lit. You don't read Canadian lit, which is why you missed Lawrence, Ondaaje, Anne Marie Macdonald and Atwood. Of your italicized titles, I think A Fine Balance and KiteRunner are not to be missed..Outlander is fun, too. Thanks for passing on the meme.
Katharine, thanks for stopping by. You are right! My schooling was a little more to the Southern side. Where's the Faulkner, Weldy, Hurston, Morris, Morrison, McCullers, Walker, Wright, O'Connor, and Twain? I do remember reading Tess/by Hardy (10th grd) and o/c it's not on the list. I also noticed the African-American authors are sadly missing.
You are so right, the list seems to be Canadian (& white) generated.
No excuse, though! I need to read the English classics! :O
