Andrew Wyeth (1917 - 2009)

Christina's World
(1948)

"I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape - the loneliness of it, the dead feeling of winter.
Something waits beneath it, the whole story doesn't show."
~Andrew Wyeth

Our county's art museum has a beautiful Andrew Wyeth collection, so I was sad to hear of his passing yesterday.

Lovely post. I like all of Wyeth's work and his son. The world has lost a star.

Andrew Wyeth is one of my favorite painters. I love the story behind "Christina's World," too.

I've seen it before, but so good to see it again.
That is truly a remarkable, beautiful painting.
