I thought they were all extinct! How old is that video again?

The video was taken in 2004 and many think it is another type of woodpecker. There is no confirmed sighting since the 1940s.

wow... I wonder how many animals there are that went extinct(or everyone thought they did...), and then re-appeared...

That's a good question Marie! I'm glad we can at least recognize our part in this mess, and try to stop any further extinctions. I'm thinking of the Bald Eagle, Golden Eagle, Condor, etc. We need our birds! :)

Ha! This was a big hub bub in my local area when that video was first released. I live in the Cornell University region ,where the ornithology lab is :)
