That's great to hear, WW100. I thought of you last night b/c one of the Union students said it looked like a little Katrina. I doubt she saw Katrina's devastation except from TV-and by little she underestimates the damages of Katrina- but it does look like a concentrated war zone.
I work with a couple of people, one actually born in Viet Nam and another who is a first generation Vietnamese-American and enjoyed talking to them Thursday about their various family traditions centering on Chinese New Year...sounds like a wonderful time for the children with lots of extended family activities in the mix.
Well, I've succeeded at one of my two resolutions, thus far. The other one . . . hmm. Might need to start over, yes.
Those storms were a horror; so glad you're okay. Eldest lives in Memphis, now, and he watched a tornado form. He called frequently to give me play-by-plays. I was a little unsure why he wasn't cowering in the nice, thick refrigerator at the restaurant where he went with boss and co-workers to wait it out, but he claims he was "safe". Yes, safe while watching a tornado and a bunch of explosions. Lovely.
Oh, I'm glad Eldest wasn't in harm's way Bookfool! It's amazing the things we do when young and fearless. Waterspouts at sea are enough to satisfy my curiosity. :)
Yolanda, this is one of our current displays. I'm working on Snow Better Time to Read this week. :)

Happy New Year Maggie !! :-)
Wonderful display, as always.
Glad to know you are safe from the tornados.
I am trying to find out whether a fellow blogger from my haiku blog is ok. He lives in Van Buren, Ark.
It looks close to ground zero.
Thank you, Paul! I ate a fortune cookie to celebrate. ;)
Thank you. I hope your friend is okay, WW100. I'm biting my nails for you.
Happy New Year - and I'm doing ok on my resoltions so far . . .
Great Diane! A couple more weeks and you'll have a new good habit! :)
I like your thinking! Haha Happy New Year to you too!
Literary Feline - It's the year of the cat, not rat! :D
I was born in 1948 - it was a year of the Rat...
I just got an email. His home is 60 miles from ground zero. But, he did feel the wind.
I'm a goat, Paul! :P

Lovely display!
Thanks Tiff! :)
Happy New Year again! My resolutions are going great--but then what is it they say, aim at nothing, you'll hit it!
That's only b/c you need no improvement, Sage! :D

How cool, Sam! I would love to see an actual parade with dragons and fireworks! :D
