Dawg Days of Summer

It was a nasty 101 degrees with a heat index of 107 today. (My little weather gurl (in the sidebar) was probably runnin' around nakeed instead of her usually yellow polka dot bikini! Oh, and today is the anniversary of the release of Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini!) The weather promises to be more the same for the rest of the week. Can you even imagine life without air conditioning in these conditions? We got our first window unit in 1973, praise be.

Thought this would be a good time to post a painting idealizing the historic blues cross(rail)roads of the South, where the Southern Crosses the Dawg.

The neighbor, when I was a kid, told me that she would put a bowl of ice in front a table fan. She would sit in front of the fan, cooling off.

This was her AC.

I do wish we had had air conditioning when I was young! However, I did get to enjoy all the great songs of that time including Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini! lol

Hey, Paul, I feel for your heat and humidity, too... :(

WW100, that sounds really cool and I may try it sometime when the heat comes down to 80 degrees or we lose our air again. Have you ever done the alcohol bath thing-not drinking, but rubbing-it cools you down a wee bit.

Carol, do you remember standing in front of the brand new window unit? Mom was constantly fussin' at us to stop hoggin' the air. :D
