6 more days...

...until Southern Reading Challenge begins! So, pull up a rocker and get comfortable!

"The American South is a geographical entity, a historical fact, a place in the imagination, and the homeland for an array of Americans who consider themselves southerners. The region is often shrouded in romance and myth, but its realities are as intriguing, as intricate, as its legends."

Thanks for letting me slide in No Country for Old Men, even though it doesn't QUITE fit the requirements! It's been a pleasure reading about all the Southern Authors though. Thanks for all the work you've put in!

Wow...that picture reminds me so much of my grandmother's home that it makes me very nostalgic. That's a good feeling on a rainy day in Houston. Thanks. :-)

Thanks for the reminder - I still had to post my list. It's here now.
Nice picture, btw. Pity you did not use that for your button.

Lisa, I looked at ur blog and didn't see the two you were ready to read. Sorry. I would help, but I'm unsure of ur direction.

No problem Stephanie! I love No Country for Old Men and wouldn't want to discourage you from reading it.

Sam and Henk, I'm thrilled y'all liked the painting. It was something I randomly pulled off google images after searching porch & rocking chairs; however, the magnolia, currently used for the SRC button, is from my tree in the side yard.

Henk, please help yourself to the image if you would like to have another buttom. I'm currrently working on a bare-bones laptop w/out MS products.

RaiderGirl, I think Miss Julia will be a rather fun way to pass the hot, humid summertime.

Mo, I'm looking forward to your selections.

I don't have a blog. I do like to read the blogs of others. I find lots of new books that way.

I picked these three books. I hope they are ok.

Sweet Hush - Deborah Smith
Ladder of Years - Anne Tyler
Outer Banks - Anne Rivers Siddons

I have selected my three and even bloggged about them.

Check it out.

Carol, no problem! I'm just happy you have committed to reading some southern books. I love me some Anne Tyler! One of her main characters is named maggie moran in Breathing Lessons! :D

WW100, I LOVE your chosen books!

Lesley, I'm having a hard time waiting, too. I meant to do so much more with Southern authors on the blog, but time marches on!

The two I've already chosen are:
gods in Alabama by Jackson and The Optimist's Daughter by Welty. I'm thinking about the first Miss Julia, but wouldn't mind something with a little bluesy heat to it.
