What's this Dribble...

RE: The Thirteenth Tale #2 RIP Challenge

That's right. I've been telling everyone about how great this book is, but when it comes to writing it down--nothing but boring dribble. I had big plans too! I mean I finished it Saturday and had upteen hours to think and write, yet I wait until the very last "deadline in sight" and write crap. What about the ghost? What about the incest? What about the twin connection? Man, I'm worthless...

I had a real hard time with TT after chapter 1 until page 172. I just about quit reading because of the 'weirdness' but kept at it because of the rave reviews. I loved the letter in Ch 1. After page 172 I got into the story and put the brother and sister out of my mind. Even though the ending 'secret' was totally improbable, I thougt, overall the story was grand.

I think I picked TT up just for the RIP challenge.

I really liked the gothic feel, all moors and mirrors, because it was very different from my normal reading.

I was relieved when Winter turned out to be a cousin and not one of the twins. I wanted to like her and I didn't like the mean one she was being associated with.

I'm always a little timid when promoting a book with a little controversy. It's as if I endorse the act(s).

Did you opted out of writing a review because you didn't like it "that" much?

Oh that happens to me all the time when I try to write reviews. Sometimes I post them months after I've read the book. I take lots of notes so that helps. I blame it all on lack of time. I wish my blog was my real job - ha,ha..

I'm glad I read TT and thought it was enjoyable but I wasn't as bowled over as I expected. Again, I think that was inevitable given how much everyone is talking about the book so some of the "secrets" I already knew about. well, I will look forward to reading your review of it when you post it :)

Sometimes, writing for a living can be pure hell.

Thanks for the timely reminder. I needed a kick in the behind to re-engage on some particularly vexing deadlines on my end.
