My Southern hero!!! I loved Larry. I'm still mourning him, but the eldest gave me a Thacker Mountain Radio CD with Larry on it. Anyone who wants to hear a real Southern boy just needs to grab that CD and have a sit down. :)

ReplyDeleteHe sounds just as expected. Like he could be your neighbor, the guy who pulls over to help you with a flat, the fellow holding up dear antlers in the newspaper (and then inviting you over for venison at Christmas with about 50 other people), the volunteer who climbs into your attic to make sure your house isn't on fire when the ceiling fan shorts out. You know what I mean.

I saw a book by Larry Brown in a bookstore last weekend. Something is now telling (screaming, yelling, shouting) me that I should've picked it up. It was called Joe. I think.
