But I also fully acknowledge that perhaps you have to have come to a certain point in your life to really appreciate the story.

I'll be clicking away to see what else these folks have said beyond your teasers. :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20112247.post-76664723239354368582007-07-03T14:32:00.000-05:002007-07-03T14:32:00.000-05:00LOL Maggie! I hear her Each Little Bird that Sings was selected as a Newbery honor; although, I'm not positive on that. I look forward to your review.

Oh, I totally understand the reasoning for not wanting to read Southern in the summer. You can still participate in the "sense of place" contest though. Right up your alley, really! :Dmaggie moranhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02462439415973311990noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20112247.post-78332963534521979952007-07-03T09:55:00.000-05:002007-07-03T09:55:00.000-05:00Hey Maggie,I just read an adolescent book that wou...Hey Maggie,

I just read an adolescent book that would have been terrific for the Southern Reading Challenge if I'd joined (which I didn't - 'cause I was convinced I'd rather read about Europe when it's hot). I assume the town is fictional, but it's set in Halleluia, Mississippi and it's just the cutest darn book: Love, Ruby Lavender by Deborah Wiles. I highly recommend it and will be writing up my review, soon - maybe tomorrow, since I have to go fetch the hubster from the airport, today.Bookfoolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08247136634069540446noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20112247.post-90219910993449283062007-07-03T08:07:00.000-05:002007-07-03T08:07:00.000-05:00That's the back drop, Sage, one reason for all the...That's the back drop, Sage, one reason for all the turmoil. It is a work of fiction, though.

Carol, I'm glad you liked it. Please share thoughts with the others on their blogs by clicking the read more.
